For nasal congestion, use Afrin nasal spray. Works everytime!

i like contac or sudafed, in the severe cold/flu or whatever category. i also use the stuff you spray up your nose, that's helpful right before bed if you have trouble sleeping due to a stuffed nose.

If it is bacterial, 2-3 days on antibiotics (100% adherence) should make you feel much much better *but you must finish all the pills even if you feel better*.

i was just sick last month so i know what you're going through.

solution: a packet of emergen-C (1000mg of vitamin C), and a tablet of airborne in a tall glass of water. (i suggest lemon lime of both products)
take this cocktail 3-5 times a day + other liquids which flush the bad stuff out of your body.

also make sure to get plenty of sleep and im talking at least 8 or hours

you have to finish the antibiotics because they ensure that you get rid of the bacteria that caused your strept throat, runny nose, whatever. often the bacteria may still be there or could have spread to other parts of your body! this also ensures you get rid of the bacteria completely because any leftover could cause a repeat infection thats much more worse and harder to get rid off (they build tolerance to medicine)

**the common cold is a virus so antibiotics don't work**

And get a humidifier. In the winter, the air is so dry it doesn't allow your immune system to function at it's best. That's why colds and flu and other illnesses are more common in the winter.
