I wear black or white socks with hiking shoes... comfy, versatile, good grip year round, and goes well with cargo pants. ^__^

I wear black socks with everything - I only have one pair of white socks and one pair of grey socks. That said, Newfoundland doesn't really promote wearing shorts that much (unless you like frostbite) so I guess I don't have to worry about being "unfashionable"...
