As one of our coffee table books we have "Time Magazine's 100 most influential pictures of the century". Pretty much 90% of the pictures on that site are in the book as well. Great book, and offers a whole lot more back story to the pictures as well.

I'm also amazed at how the photographer was able to get away with some of those.

 

and here i'm complaining why i wasn't born super rich !! after i looked at some of these images, i realize how lucky i am , we're to be here.

It's interesting that so many of the pictures bring about negative emotions and few are focused on positive events...

The guy who posted the pictures suggested that these images may help us not to repeat the mistakes of the past - that cliche always irritates me, because the human race keeps doing awful things time and time again.

On a more positive note, as others have said, the images do give you the opportunity to remind you of how fortunate you are.
