The Main Library at Indiana University sinks over an inch every year because when it was built, engineers failed to take into account the weight of all the books that would occupy the building.

Same goes for the Queen Elisabeth II Library at the Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador. I think it's actually dropping only a half inch per year, though.

There is a formula that proves the paper thing. I learned/forgot it from my math teacher. It has to do with the density of the paper combined with some logarithmic formula.
