Default Insurance

I think the S is costing me more and more to insure every year. Is anyone else experiencing this?
I don't know if it is due to the younger crowd getting them now and wrecking them all the damn time or what is going on. I'm with Progressive right now and have been for at least 5 years but am contemplating looking for a different insurance company now.

it never hurts to look around.
i'd do some shopping and talk with progressive (if you're happy with them) and say that company x can get me this rate. would you be willing to match it?

companies do look at your credit rating so make sure that's in order too.

I pay every 6 months with SafeCo and my premium has consistantly dropped about $30 every renewal since I got the car.

My rate went up about $30 the last 6 months. I was told it was due to a statewide fee increase, not because of me or my car.. but maybe they're lying!

I get told the same shit when I call about statewide fees. My credit is phenomenal so that isn't any issue.

Mine went up $25/month but ... my credit took a HUGE shit during these last 6 months due to problems with my old car that was stolen ... fukking thieves.

That's pretty common actually. The market for insurance is hardening up, so statewide rate changes within companies are becoming common. Look for rates to drop within the next year. Progressive just had a 5+% rate decrease in New Mexico, with some parts of Albuquerque getting up to 8%. If your state had a similar change, look for that on your next renewal.

That being said, Progressive is one of the few companies that does not reward customers for staying with them. Other companies may award you 2-5% off every six months you say with them and don't have an accident (renewal discount/credit). Progressive has never done this, it doesn't fit within their business model. That's one of the reasons I dropped Progressive a few years back--even though i'm back with them now.

Not possible... insurance rates are state regulated. Companies can't "match it".
