Insurance Companies
Im thinking about switching my insurance from Progressive to save a little money. I was wondering who you guys use / like / recommend.
I've been with Progressive for a little over a year and while I really dont have any complaints, I think I can get a better deal somehwere else. But if that better deal comes with hassles, I'd like a heads up about it. (i.e. i just read a bunch of bad press about Allstate)
I realize its usually picking the best of the worst with insurance anyway...just wanted input

Progressive got their start as a high-risk insurer but have moved into the mainstream and rapidly grew into a very large company. However, their market share has been eroding lately, due in part to the rise of Geico. Their rates are usually fairly competitive but don't forget about customer service. I've had Allstate for over 15 years and have been very happy. I may be able to save a few dollars by switching to another carrier but my agent has always given me excellent service, quick response to a few claims I've submitted, always able to answer questions accurately, etc. To me, that's just as important as rates. Search around, ask questions, get opinions. Good luck.
I'm still with Progressive because I can't find a better deal.
Actually, Geico *almost* gave me a better rate. They look back on my record 5 years where as Progressive only goes back 3. I have a nasty black mark on my record from just over 4 years ago. So, Progressive doesn't take it into account and Geico still does. As soon as that falls off my 5 year record, Geico will beat Progressive by a couple hundred bucks every 6 months...
