Default IRAQ...HERE I COME

Well, I am not in the military, but merely a civilian working for a Gov't Contractor; BAE Systems. We have developed and fabricated (by yours truly) a "bar armor" kit for Hummv's, along with some other weapons systems we are designing and testing. Well, last Monday I was asked if I would be willing to head over to the Middle East for approximately 3 months to install the 50 kits on the Hummv's we have over there. So, I'll be leaving for GA around the 18th, for training and such. Then I will be "flying" over to 3 different places in Iraq and 2 in Afghanistan.

I'm exciting about the trip somewhat. I'll be able to contribute to our work overseas( no saying I agree with President Bush), but we are over there. It'll be an exciting, exhausting, and excellent experience.

I will also be significantly rewarded upon my return with my hazard pay: ~1,xxx a day which after 3 months...comes close to 90,000 tax free

Just hoping you guys can remember and pray for me while I'm gone. I'm planning on returning before Christmas, so I pray I make it back in the same state I'm leaving in.

Thanks all S2KI'ers

BTW: I turned 21 on Wed...so I'm only a youngin

"Let us pray! Through Him, with Him, and in Him. In the unity of the holy spirit, all glory and power are yours, almighty Father...forever and ever! Amen!" Hahaha!

Wow. Good deal man. Dangerous, but $90,000 tax free is pretty darn good. It's amazing how much the government pays contractors compared to what they actually pay the troops. Some of our troops on the ground are making less than $25,000 a year to get shot at for 12 months and they're giving you $90,000 hazard pay for 3 months! I guess they've gotta entice people some how. More power to you. I bet it'll be the longest 3 months of your life. I've been in the region for almost 2 months now for the first time and I'll tell you it sucks (and I'm not even getting shot at). Luckily for you, it'll be getting cooler. I've seen highs of up over 120 degrees. When it drops to 90 at night, it feels "cool".

Good luck and rest assured we're doing as much in the air as we can to keep our people on the ground as safe as possible.
