Years ago I designed multiple explosively-formed penetrator (MEFP) warheads, and one of the programs on which I worked was for an anti-helicopter mine.

This thing looks similar to the Russian Kamov Ka-50 - the Hokum - which also had dual, coaxial, contra-rotating rotors; the Hokum was one of our targets.

but can it take off from a lazy susan?

 

I'm pretty sure it can. But can it take off from a treadmill??

 

Only if it happens before the pilot gets dizzy and vomits.

 

Hopefully, they will come up with a counter-measure against the mines. Maybe they will equip it with doppler sensor jammer? If such a thing exists? Better yet, maybe they can design the shape of the rotors such that they create no signatures...probably will require a lot of fancy acoustics. That will be so cool

Suffice it to say that AHMs are wicked.
