To put it frankly, people just don't give a damn.

I hear you on that.

Can't wait to move. Though from what I remember NM drivers can be entertaining as well.

Though after driving in several countries in the middle east and the countries that end is "stan", beleive it or not people drive better here. (somewhat).

I very seriously doubt that they don't have a clue. Most likely, they just don't care. It's typical of more and more people in today's society. They have no consideration for the people around them, and only want to do what is easiest or most beneficial for themselves.

How often do you see someone just walk through a doorway, rather than holding it open for the person behind them? How often do you see someone keep their seat on a bus/train/whatever when there is an elderly person, or pregnant woman, or whomever that needs it more than they do? 40 years go, this would never happen, but people just aren't raised with the same respectfulness today. It's the "Me" generation.
Some say that chivalry is dead...I try and do my part since my family is from the old country and have taught me from a young age to open doors for women(and hold them open for whoever is behind me) and give up seats to the elderly and females. It's kind of branded in my head from a young age.

I believe that they should enforce the road rules they enforce in the Autobahn.
Right lane for cruising...left lane for passing only. That's it no questions asked.

i'm a big fan of the no trucks in the far left rule. makes a huge difference. its in place randomly in various areas but not at all consistently.

Was crusing on the freeway the other night, minding my own business in #2 lane of 4. I'm coming up this onramp. Not a soul in front of me. This car proceeds to merge onto the freeway and promptly move over 2 lanes right in front of me. WTF . There was absolutely no reason that person needed to move over 1 lane, let alone 2 lanes. Not only that, I'm doing 75 mph and they are doing a good 60 mph. I scared the shit out of the driver when he saw my headlights taking up his whole rear view mirror. He didn't even bother to look over his shoulder.

I hate to admit it, but as an Ohioian, I'll admit, we've got more than our share of left lane campers.

I think it's just that general area of the country. Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky...They are all about the same. I lived on the border of Kentucky and Indiana for almost 10 years. Same thing there.

Or even better, try driving down PCH on the 4th of July or the weekend of the 4th.
