Well, over the past couple of days, i have seen a post about one guy wondering if it was possible to tuck 18" "dubs" on an alero, and another saying his friend told him to install vtec, cuz it would improve horsepower, but lose some low end torque. Dear god, are these people all huffing glue?

why in the hell would someone have an alero forum??? Who would even want to talk about one? What do they have that's interesting? an old ass 4 and 6 cyl motor that GM has had forever and they are also considered one of the worst used cars to buy! Sorry really do NOT like GM cars, they are worthless. Everyone who has one is buried like a mo fo!

o, i won't deny it, they suck, i hate mine. I've done quite a bit of work to mine, and am very competitive in SCCA solo II in street mod. But alas, we do have a forum, and until i can dump this p.o.s., i still browse there.

Wow! My hat's off, man. Not many people on this board (or any other) have the balls to say they own a car, they DON'T think it's the best car ever, etc. for integrity!

When they first came out, I really liked the Alero's looks. Still do. I think the 2-dr version has nice lines. I know reliability has been pretty poor, and GM isn't really good at re-inventing the wheel. They seem to just rehash old designs. I own a Saturn and it hasn't given me any real big problems in 100K+ miles, so I can't completely bag GM. I'm impressed that you can autocross the Alero, doesn't seem like it would make a very competitive car.

I don't really get having a forum, but then they have them for Saturn, Hyundai (the 'Tibby' board), Neon, etc. I guess it's all about ownership pride. Not sure I'd put $4000 in rims on an Alero, but then I'm not really up on the whole "big pimpin'" scene either...

hellz no, the big pimpin scene sucks. My car will never be fast, so i've done what i can. I've got 17" Tsw Revos, 12" Baer brakes in front with stainless brake lines, eibach springs, fr and r strut bars, and had a carbon fiber hood custom made. Some other little engine stuff, but nothin of note. It is a manual at least. My parents bought me the car, so i couldn't really do much about what i got. I've taken the car to about the limits of it's performance without spending major loot, and it's time to move into somethin else. An S2k is a major consideration, especially after spendin so much time on this board, mostly researching for my buddy who just got a MY03. This is a good community here, better than i've found on the other forums i'm on. You guys are knowledgable and generally very respectfull of the other members. I just wish i could know the joys of driving an S every day.

I bought an Alero 4 door a few years back for the winter beater because I had a GM card with a couple grand off a car and needed a new grocery getter. It was fine for basic transportation and the 6 cylinder is extremely reliable (the rest of the car is not) and gets decent milage. I got rid of it though because I can not stand to drive an auto and the warranty was set to expire.

A forum for it seems a little silly but some would say that about this one. For a highschool kid, it is probably a really cool car and if they are excited about it I won't spoil their fun. When I was in high school everybody drove rusty 70's detroit iron (I always chose imports). Most of those folks would have loved to have an Alero over a crappy rusted 75 Monte Carlo.

forums are also to learn things about your vehicle and to find information if something is wrong with it. It really seems this one is more into ragging on people's mods and competing between colors than anything.
