Really, we'll let you delete all your illegal songs off your computer, then we wont sue you. We promise.

What makes the RIAA think this will work? What makes them think that people will bother fessing up to them about downloading music illegally?

Side note related to this topic: Universal Music Group is lowering the price of all (new and old) their CDs to $12.99 from the current $17.99 and sometimes even more than that! I'm not sure if this will work either.

why can't they just charge $4.99 per CD??? I would just buy them at that price instead of wasting time searching for decent quality songs....

Whatever happened to the CD price-fixing suit / issue? I recall the a few years ago the major publishers were found guilty / admitted out of court that they had collaborated to fix prices. I thought we were going to see a price drop after that but it seems as though it actually went up.

It looks like Vivendi / Universal is finally caving and dropping prices by $5 or so. Better, but not quite there yet.

I'm happy with the itunes .99/song download solution. They just need more jazz... Being a part-time musician - I have a little different perspective on the downloading thing.
