It's Uncanny!
National Public Radio's (NPR's) Bob Mondello just realized a startling fact:
Monsters, Inc. and The Matrix are the same picture!
Consider the evidence:
Monsters, Inc. opens with a child screaming as a monster tries to burrow its way under his bed. The Matrix opens with Neo trying but unable to scream as he dreams of a monster trying to burrow into his navel.
Both Monster's, Inc. and The Matrix are stories about alternate universes whose inhabitants use unwitting humans as their power source.
In both Monsters, Inc. and The Matrix, the alternate universe is reached through portals: closet doors in the former and telephone booths in the latter.
In both Monsters, Inc. and The Matrix the alternate universe is thrown into chaos when a human enters.
In Monsters, Inc. Boo strolls around the alternate universe without restraint because she is not afraid of the monsters. In The Matrix once Neo learns to control his fear of the monsters he strolls around the alternate universe without restraint.
And so on, and so on, and so on.
It's uncanny!
