I'm with FlyingPig on this one. Not to mention, you get Jaguar reliablity which is not good.

I think reliability problems are a thing of the past.

I do think that the F type embodies a lot of the qualities of the Stook mixed in with the e-type.

Sorry Piggie (are you sure you're not a Porker (Porsche) owner hiding underneath that thin veil of sarcasm?), but the Jaguar sports car range XKE, XK8, F type must be the ultimate expression of beauty in automotive design.

Jay Li, I'm disappointed in you too.

However, I have to admit that I wouldn't buy one because a). I could never afford it - Jags in Oz are very expensive - like $200K for an XK8; and
b). lingering doubts about reliability (still - even with Ford as the new owners).

I like the wheels.
2kturkey, most porsches are ugly, too.
However, they aren't as ugly as the jags.
I only like the boxster and 911 turbo.

The more I look at it, the more it looks like the vett.
But I think the vett looks much better.
As I said, it may grow on me......but it really doesn't look good at the moment.
But of course, styling is personal preference. I'm not going to tell you that you are a sucker for falling with love with this car, and I don't expect an argument on my taste either.
Unless you question my taste for loving the stook styling

Jag reliability has been improving. They are almost as good as Ford (if you call that good). But again, the prestige that used to come with a jag went down the crappers with Ford's mass production. On the bright side, at least it will get some good looks from Ford. (if you call that good)

Very interesting potential, just hope they don't screw this one up, like using the ford mustang engine.. any idea/rumors?

Piggie, we sort of agree - I think all Porsches are ugly - period. However, I am not attempting to question your taste - I would be very disappointed if anybody felt they had to justify their taste in vehicles. In particular, I would not question your taste in liking te Stook as i obviously share your views.

Having said that though I have noticed that one's taste in vehicles is directly affected by those vehicles you see on a regular basis - that is why vehicles 'grow' on you.

As for my tastes there is one vehicle which will never grow on me and that is a Z3 - that car is criminally hideously ugly and only matched in poor design only by the BMW cruiser range of motorcycles (and the Audi TT).

It's funny, after writing this I am wondering if I have a prejudice against german design as I can't get excited over any BM, Mercedes or VW/Audi vehicle .

I don't think seeing cars on daily basis would change my mind much. That's way pass the "grow on me stage".
M3 grew on me pretty quickly and I haven't even seen one on the road.
I see Z3 and TT everyday...especially Z3, but the more I see them, the uglier than look.
Actually, TT isn't too bad, it's cute. TT Roadster is ugly.

The F-Type is supposed to rekindle the fire of the E-Type. The Series I E-Type is one of the best looking cars ever produced, in my opinion, especially the roadster. The car, when introduced, was a great performer and the Lightweight factory racers were very competitive.

The problem with the F-Type is that Jag will probably make the car too heavy and it will be underpowered. The original E-Type came with a great 3.8l six and then they blew that up to 4.2V12. I love the theory of the F-Type, but I don't have confidence in Jag to deliver the kind of car that they should. It will be a Touring car like the SLK, not a sports car like the S2000.
