Oh shit. As if this day didn't suck enough the most badass DJ in the history of rap gets killed. I still remember blasting RockBox and Sucker MC's back in the day.

I am bummed now.

This is a sad day for the old school rap enthusiasts. My first rap album was "Raisin' Hell".

Man, that is so sad. I remember parties in junior high, a bunch of kids huddled around a box jammin' some Run DMC. "I AM THE KING OF ROCK, THERE IS NONE HIGHER. SUCKA MCS WILL CALL ME SIRE."

I'm sure he died doing what he enjoyed most- Making and producing music. Very sad.

Very sad. He left behind a wife and three kids.

My wife was born and raised in Richmond Hill, Queens. Not too far from Jamaica (where Jay was killed) or Hollis where RUN DMC are from. She literally grew up listening to RUN DMC.

She was shocked when I put in their Greatest Hits album into the S for the drive in this morning and could recite damn near all the words even though I haven't listened to RUN DMC in years. Brings back great memories as a kid.

Jam Master Jay was a great artist and to the best of my knowledge had a very postiive impact on his community and a very postiive impact on his art. What a shame.

The radio stations down here were playing the most Run DMC I've heard in years. It wasn't until the commercial break when I heard that Jay had been killed. I went from enjoying the music to feeling sad that was taken away at 38yrs of age.

He will be missed.
