^ I agree. There's more to it than that.

I know a guy that pays so much in taxes (he's self employed), that he makes more on interest from that money than the government takes in the form of penalties. He always pays late with penalties and pockets the leftovers.

wow $75k is big big number........i barely make $20k a year......and i work 40 hrs a week but they can call me in at ANY time...last call i got was that i was going to the desert.....

generally speaking, it's less common to be able to use tax deductions for expenses with w-2 employees. tax deductions are favorable when you're a business owner, independent contractor, etc.

among other thing you can do to lower your taxable income...1) decrease your withholdings so that when tax season comes along, you aren't owed or owe any money to the gov't, 2) open an individual retirement account that is tax deferred.

like i said though, my statements and the ones above are very general, and each individual's situation will obviously vary as well as other available options out there besides the ones mentioned.
