Known Scams thread.......
Prepaid legal - remember that stupid shit.... you would prepay to have access to the worlds worst lawyers....
tiny classified ads - Don Lepree...... apparently when you put the ads in the paper, you charge people $10... and tell them to put the same tiny classified ads in.... then they charge the next sucker $10... and so on and so on and so on.
Amway - It is all about the points.... ahahahah... too bad a Timex Indiglo watch costs $40 from Amway and $22 from Walmart....but you get points...... (nothing close to $18 worth of points though).
Credit Solutions bullshit companies - a non profit company Call...we can help you lower your monthly payments..... they call your credit card company and tell them you are in dire straights and need a lower % rate.... then they charge you $30-$60 per month for that......
We buy houses for cash Business a-holes looking to rip grandma off as she tries to move into the old folks home.... they offer 60% of market hoping you are damn desperate.....
Replacement Windows / Siding / Roofs - telemarketers or they show up at your door.... then charge $600-$1000 per window..... and of course they do it to the poorest people in the city.... and they do shitty work to boot!!!!!
that goofy guy with the ?'s on his jacket... you could get paid $10,000 to write a book, $50,000 to start a restuarant...... bla bla bla.....
no money down - i did get my $ back on this one..... Carlton sheets said you find someone who is selling a house and assume their mortgage.... that would happen 1 in 10,000 tries..... then he said if they don't have a mortgage...ask them to get one and then you would assume it.... that would happen 1 in 1000000000000 tries.....
I once sent in $30 for something....i was supposed to be a millionaire within minutes.... but.... it was these really lame 2 page pamphlets that you were supposed to copy and sell....."how to get $ from the government to start a business" was one of them..... it said... write to the Govt and provided an address.... ahah... dickheads.... (i am out $30 damnit).

online modeling "agencies" that say they're actually an agent that "shows' your picture to the real agencies by displaying your pics online. except, the real agencies never look at these pictures. PM if any of you got suckered into this-- I was able to fight and get my "non-refundable" deposit back. ugly ugly scam, but fortunately your CC company is on your side.
those "Beat Vegas at..." are all scam books published by people affiliated with, yup, you guessed it, Vegas Casinos! They sucker you into thinking you have a system, you go in and try it, and when you start losing money, you blame yourself, or whatever. by the time you've figured out that your system doesn't work over the long-run, well your out the money you put in, not to mention the amount you paid for the book. There is NO way that Vegas is going to put in machines that can be beaten in the long run.

Someone I know did this, they delivered a bunch of crap to be stuffed. Send the completed bundles off to a PO Box, and hey, when do I get paid?

vending - for the past 3-4 years I have seen lots of "make $ part time with 20 vending machines"... i called, and it is those stupid peppermint patti boxes that restaraunts sometimes have near the cash register..... They say if just 10% of the people buy x 20 machines x 365 days = $40,000 profit...... too bad only .005% of the people actually buy and the candy goes stale...and they only want like $400 per machine.... for a $25 plastic box

I also remember the old sell phone cards " to friends / family and make thousands of $$$ per month with little effort....."whatever! If it seems too good to be true....it IS!
