I know how bad it feels to be made redundant but take it from me you come back better and stronger than before. Keep your chin up!

Chris,
Sorry to hear about your unfortunate luck. I'm not sure which company would have the nerves to lay someone off right befor Christmas. On a happy note, you do work in a relatively prosperous, and required profession, so I doubt finding another job will be difficult.
Good luck, and make the most of the forum while you have some free time
Asif

Thanks guys - It was unexpected, but it was a lousy day that just kept getting worse. And the severance was really weak, so I'll be looking for a job right away.

Sorry to hear that, I just got laid off - 11/30 was my last day. At least the severance package I got was nice. Apply for unemployment if you can too.

Hey, join the club I got laid off from my tech job too *cough*motorola*cough*. This was back in April, I ended up getting a new job even before I was released. While I was working at new job, I was taking vacation and sic days on my old job so I was able to collect on my severance and my signing bonus too . Don't forget the unemployment, think of it as a paid vacation Happy hunting......
