Hey guys, the battery on my gateway laptop won't hold a charge anymore and am forced to use my ac cord. I was wondering if I'm stuck having to buy a new battery or is there a way I can fix this one.

According to the label on the bottem of the laptop it is a solo 2500
The part number of the battery is 6500332

I checked gateways accessories site and they don't seem to have one that matches that part number.

This stinks I just setup my wireless network but am now stuck with the AC cord

Any advice?
Thanx,
Karim

call up gateway or go to one of their stores and they'll order one for you. shouldn't cost any more than $100.

Batteries are expendable. It's time for a new one. Shop around too - I bet you could get one A LOT cheaper than by going directly through gateway.

I second EBay. I've bought laptop batteries for less than 1/2 retail.

I'd be careful buying knock-off batteries for you laptop though. If it's a battery made by Gateway you're good, but be careful of buying generic batteries. There are cases of knock-off batteries exploding.....not worth saving a few bucks if it fries your computer. Like everyone said laptop batteries need to be replaced sometimes as they have a fuse in them that can go bad, which is what sounds like happend to yours. Another good place to get computer parts is pricewatch.com They are basically just a listing of places to get cheap parts, but that's where I've gotten the best deals for the last few years. It's more consumer-oriented then ebay in the sense that demand actually drives prices LOWER whereas just the opposite is true on ebay, especially around Xmas
