There's a possibility you'll go blind, permanently. J/K!

I got it done a few years ago and it's been perfectly 20/15 since then. One of the pros is that you can see as God had intended you to, unlike a little retard with a deformed vision. Cons: risk of injuring the cornea; dry eyes for a while; etc.

Why would you think you'd be the youngest having this done on the board? Because you're the richest pimp-daddy of them all? I got it done at 20, a little older than you are, but back then, it was $2000. Now, it's much less than $1500.

My real advice is to find an experienced doctor.

Sorry for the little attitude. I'm having a little "PMS". Not in too good a mood.

Prolonged dryness depends on each person. As for me, I'd say about a month, though I can't remember much. Even now, I think I have dryness once in a while, but maybe it's due to some sleep deprivation (sometimes).

Yep, my vision never went down. Hell, I think my vision now is 20/10. I have supervision or x-ray. That doesn't mean it's the same for everyone else. Some people would get back to their prior condition and would need another lasik. There's no way of knowing. But for the money, nothing is better.

you live near a great ophthalmologic teaching institution: Wilmer Eye in Baltimore. It's considered, if not the best, one of the top 3 ophthalmology institution in the world.
The current chief of ophthalmology there, Dr. Peter McDonnel, is one of the pioneer in LASIK.

Without examining your eyes, it's hard to say whether you're a good candidate for LASIK. Get an exam and then they can tell you if you're a good candidate.

S2020, how accurate are those eye charts? Are they an accurate indication of the actual vision? Whenever I tested myself with one of those, I could almost always be able to read the 20/10 line, sometimes even 20/5.

I would like to answer this thread, but I can't read it.

I haven't had it done, but I'm personally a bit leery of damage to the cornea. I'm somewhat active...I'm also a klutz. So...I'm a little leery about something going wrong and I get knocked in the eye by...something...and that injuring my eyes. I suppose I could wear sports glasses when I'm excersizing...but that isn't exactly eliminating glasses...

I had it done in February, I was 30 years old. There was a girl there that was 18 having it done as well when I was there.

I have 20/15 vision now, and it has been the best thing I've ever done. the first few months it was tough driving at night in the rain, but thats better now.

I just had my last eye appt, and my vision is stable, and in perfect health, so it was a complete success.

I used the eye drops for about 2 months, then pretty much didn't need them anymore. My eyes aren't any dryer now then they were before.

S2020 nailed a diagnosis for me of Blespharia? prior to my surgery, I didn't get it cleared up 100% before my operation and that was a real pain in the ass, made things dificult for a while.

I also found my eyes got really tired for the first couple months, really bad for the first few weeks, so I couldn't put in a full day of work with out laying back and closing my eyes for 10 minutes or so, every hour. It got better over time, though if I am really tired, I notice my night vision suffers because of it.

Technically I'm still healing, so I can only hope as good as my vision is now, it can only get better.

also as an aside, of the 10 people that had the surgery done on the day I did it, 7 of them were American, cheaper? better? not sure, but it was more then a coincidence.
