Are you sure that it isn't flooded and that the plug is actually sparking?

It must be a tough life to have to mow grass at this time of year. All our grass is in suspended animation.
Sounds like your mower needs a tune up. Have you checked/cleaned/replaced the air filter lately? Hardly anyone looks at a mower filter. Is your choke/throttle cable adjusted correctly? - these go out from time to time. Is the spark plug clip tight? And the wire secured properly at the other end?

Pull the spark plug, spray some wd-40 on it. Then take an old tooth brush and clean the threads and bottom of plug. Wipe off plug then check the gap. With plug out pull the starter cord a couple of times on mower. Reinstall plug and try her then.

Yeah that's what my Dad did, but he used brake cleaning fluid and it worked.

no problem..

I can get any lawnmower going in 10 minutes or less..

all of the above is the best start, if that still leaves you hangin.. try a few tests..

Pull the plug out, put it back on the wire, and hold it against metal..just don't touch any metal!! and crank it over, see if there is a spark, if not try a new plug..if not, then you need a new coil.

If that all checks out, then baseline the carb..turn both fuel and air screws all the way counter clockwise..

then turn the fuel needle 3 full turns clockwise. turn the air needle 2.5 turns clockwise.

That should have it running.

Still not? remove the carb and make sure that your floats aren't stuck open..it's easy to do, only like 5 parts in the whole thing..
This could be your flooding problem

Not to mention cleaning out your carb will make it run like new anyway.

Once you do that, it will fire..there is nothing to these engines..

Have you checked the flux capacitor? That's an oft-overlooked problem...
