Default Layoffs Kill :(

Well. the economy has struck again and my little law firm has decided that the new kid on the block has to go because there is not enough business and clients are not paying enough to support our firm. OUCH. I am now among the unemployed . They informed me Friday at 4:00 PM, what a bummer, huh. Well, now I have sent my resume to many recruiters and job listings over the weekend, but if anyone knows of Patent Attorney openings anywhere in the California Area, preferably Southern California, let me know.

I also posted this in the So. Cal forum.

Ouch....sorry to hear about it, Matt.

I hear that the job market out west is pretty dismal and that it's better on the east coast. Might be a good time to renew your NY roots, no?

On the other hand, if you're stuck on the scenery and weather out there, then I'm sure something will come through. Patience will win in the end. Good luck.

A very, very, very good friend of mine from college is in the very same business....she works for JohnHancock Financials (and/or John Hancock Insurers). She was just in Chicago on business last Thursday and mentioned to me that they are looking for patent attorneys for West coast representation. They got this girl flying 110% of her time from city to city (while being based in Boston).

Let me get some details from her...in the meantime, can you either pm or email me some basic info for me to send to her?

That way, you can cut me (the middle man) out and you can correspond to her directly.

PS. I remember her mentioning that she is also going for her series 6,7 licensing, so she can do something on the financial side of her job.

My firm cut 8% of its workforce this morning. The attorney next door to my office is packing up as I type this.

Matt,

sorry to hear about what happened. Man, another person layed-off, this SUCKS. I got a friend in OC that's a patent attorney. I'll ask him if there are any openings down where he is. It's a pretty far drive for you though.

The Lost Dr. Seuss Poem:

I Love My Job!

I love my job, I love the pay!
I love it more and more each day.
I love my boss, he is the best!
I love his boss and all the rest.

I love my office and its location,
I hate to have to go on vacation/
I love my furniture, drab and gray,
And piles of paper that grow each day!

I think my job I really swell,
There
