the guy who left the note didn't actually do a damn thing to the X3, he just wrote the note so the guy would spend an hour examining every part of his car trying to find an imaginary ding.

He simply cares about his belongings and is worried that another a$$hat like many of the posters who don't care will come along and mess his stuff up. They don't pay for his car so they have no say in how he takes care of it.
Why does he feel this way, obviously because someone has messed up other cars of his, or who knows, maybe this very car. He might have just gotten the car back from the body shop having 16 dents from low life a$$holes who have opened their doors into him or keyed the car or scraped the car while parking and left without leaving a note. Who knows?
I applaud the efforts of the guy who double parked his car! It's his, he's worked hard to acquire it. It shows he cares about his belongings and shows a little pride.
If he has pride in his car, he probably has pride in his appearance and maybe even pride in his job. There is a better than even chance he has pride in his life. He's/She's probably a better father/mother/wife/husband. How can I say any of this? One's life and beliefs is manifested very clearly in their outward behaviors. You aren't a good or bad person in just one aspect of your life.
And then there's the fact that people who don't care about themselves care even less about you and your belongings. Who would you rather park next to him or the guy who doesn't care about his car or yours and squeezes right next to it?
For all you know this pic may have been taken in far BFE and the guy might have had to walk an extra mile or so to get to work.
Now if this was the last space in the parking garage and there was a line waiting to get in, then he's an a$$hat.

having pride in yourself/your possessions doesn't give you the right to infringe on other people's rights. i'm not condoning vandalism, but double parking is a. illegal and b. an asshat thing to do.
of course, this kind of attitude can be expected from someone who also doesn't know/believe that the LEFT LANE IS FOR PASSING

What the pro- BMW crowd seems to be forgetting is that most parking garage space is not free. You pay to park there. When I was working my way through college I had the misfortune of having to monitor parking garages and telling people that they would be towed for double parking.
If you think double parking is ok as long as there is space left, then you must feel that theater hopping is ok as long as there are empty seats! It is stealing.
If you don't want to Park in a single space, don't park in a garage. If you have to, take a cheaper car. If you do not have a cheaper car, then you either have the money for minor repairs, or you are an idiot for buying a car that you cannot afford to maintain.
I have had double parked cars towed before. I have caught people double parking and warned them that I would tow the car. Garages get full quickly during peak times of the day and or night, and just because there is extra space now does not mean that there will be space in 10 minutes.
IMHO, anyone who does NOT think that the BMW driver was a complete and total tool, is condoning theft.

You did a little butterfly effect type thing.
I am responsible for saving the world because I smiled at a girl on the street who was feeling depressed but then felt good about herself and therefore went home and made love to her husband, became pregnant, and later gave birth to a child that grew up to be a soldier responsible for leading troops in a mission that led to the capture of a terrorist who was slated to be the one responsible for some heinous act causing world war and ultimately the demise of everything and everyone.
Or I just smiled at her, and the person was just a dick because they parked in two spaces.

Nothing says this is a pay for a space parking garage, nor does anything say this was the last space available.
I'm not sure where the left lane for passing comes from,
I had already said that if this was the last space and a line was waiting then he shouldn't have done it. But, I'd hire this guy in an instant when compared to a guy whose car is full of dents and Mickie D wrappers all in the back seat.
We have one moment in time to try to assess this guys character. He has some that's all I am saying.
A lot of the negative posters have character also, it's just not the type that would make me want to let my daughter date them.
