Default Legal issues...need help.

My girlfriend keeps rambling about getting her car back from a guy who she sold it to. She wasn't with me at the time, she was with another guy. My question is. Can we get the vehicle back? At the day of the purchase he gave $200 said he needed the car tonight(08'). She and the ex handed him the keys because her friends said he's a good guy. He will be back. Til' this day he ignors all the phone calls and changes his number so she can't get a hold of him. The thing is she still has all the main papers. Title, proof of registration all in her name. Bill of sale stating that he will pay with all necessary signatures on paper and text messages. She tried telling the cops. All she got was you can't take the car its in his property you have to take it to court. SERIOUSLY? Everythings in her name. The cop also said she could get a licensed repo guy to get the car. So, why can't I just take the car myself? Come on this guys is a navy brat he's 25-26 talking down to my girlfriend saying she's immature. When this guy can't even afford to pay off a $900 Nissan Altima. What are my options?

Call it in as stolen.

Then a few days later have someone else call the police for eratic driving and give them the license plate number.

Might work?

Why couldnt you just report the car stolen? If he guy has no proof he owns the car then it should be no issue.

Why not just go take the car? When he calls the cops to report it stolen by you, and they call you, tell them you don't know WTF he's talking about, and that you own the car.

She has the title and its in her name... Does she have a receipt or contract stating that he will pay the reminder of the vehicle price?

Its funny how Repo can walk on your property and take back a the "banks/dealerships" vehicle

Exactly, call the cops right now and say you were car jacked at gun point

Ninja Edit, Mention that the guy was black and he struck a woman

No racism, I heard it works
