Loki's new toy...
I saw one of these one night and he took off when the light turned green and the noise coming out of that thing was horrible. It sounded like a cheap cherry bomb exhaust. From a glance it looked completely stock, but it sounded like crap. Please tell me the stock M3 doesn't sound like that. One of these days I want to own an M5.
Loki,
Congrats on your new ride, it's a beauty! Please post a full review once it's broken in and you have time...I'm especially interested in how it compares to the S2000.
I'm thinking REAL hard about trading my S2000 in for one...a short drive had me instantly in love, and the SMG option just about pushes me to want to sign the dotted line. I stopped by my local dealer on Saturday, and they advised that the wait is now down to 8-12 months w/ no markup. I'll probably put down a deposit within the next few months, as I'd like to enjoy my S2000 another year or so and spread the initial depreciation hit.
Did you get the nav. system? That's the only option I'm not sure about.
Hope you enjoy it!!!

He actually seems pretty nice but that evil salesguy persona reveals itself from time to time...Speaking of which, do you know anything about the chrome trim on the three series? Easy to maintain? Salesguy swears up and down I'll hate it but it looks great in the brochure. He says it scratches easily. Thanks for the forum info. Looking forward to more pix!
Yep, I did sell the S2000 about 2 months ago... what a great car, I'll certainly miss her!
As for the sound Brett, you must mean the "rasp". That's in the exhaust system... I've heard the only way to get rid of it is to replace everything from the headers back like the Superspring system does... pricey to say the least. Personally I like the rasp and hope it doesn't fully go away when I install my Eisenmann exhaust.
Chris, I'll post a followup once it is broken in. I can tell you this... even at half throttle and revving only to 5k it is a beast awaiting to be unleashed. SMGII is worth the price of admission, downshifts are a dream, upshifts are fast.... sport mode is like a shot of nitrous, very fun indeed!
As for the NAV, I completely recommend it. Although an outdated CD based system (and it's geeky gadget factor of 10) it saved my butt while visiting friends in SoCA. I never got lost once while traversing all the different interchanges and sidestreets... a real life saver!
