long term car rental
ttb,
I've done long-term rentals while travelling for work. You usually have to speak with the rental company's "Long-term leasing" department to discuss rates. Often times they want a 60-day rental for the monthly rate. I've paid from $1000-$1800/month for a rental this way, depending on the car. Midsize (Cavalier, Neon, and similar) should be $900-1200/month.
Are you renting for work? Your company may have a negotiated rate with a few rental companies. You should ask around if this is the case.
Honestly, I've had a lot less headaches by just walking into Hertz and renting a car myself, then keeping it for 3-4 weeks and paying the weekly rate (rather than doing the "lease"). It just affords more flexibility, like not being locked into keeping the car for 60 days. I can usually negotiate a lower weekly rate by letting them know that I'll have the car for longer than 1 or 2 weeks.
Good luck.
