Default On A Long Trip, GPS, Map(s) or both?

If you have taken, or would like to take in your S2000, an "out of local area" trip, whether to another town, or out of state, Which maps aids do you use? Consider trips of any length, from single day outings or journeys, to multiple day or week-long trips. Interior space is at a premium in the S2000, so consider whether you are driving single or with a passenger. Comments welcomed. No product flaming, please. You can selected multiple answers, but please do not vote for GPS, Paper, and Both in the same vote.

Phone with Google maps -- nothing else required.

I'll modify the poll to include phone choices. Thanks.

This has nada to do with s2000s...moving to OT.

voted for the first 4. Paper map is backup for Garmin and the gf's iphone when it's more convenient.

Thanks for moving it and not killing it. I meant to have it specifically applicable to the driving in the S, since the S has so little interior room.

If you are making a multiple state trip, and you carry maps as a back-up, where do you store them?

I slip paper print outs or maps between the passenger seat and the transmission tunnel. Then they are out of the way, quickly accessible, and dont get blown around. I usually read up and try to remember the directions, then I use my phone or GPS as backup if I forget or reaffirmation that I am going the right way.

You've clearly never gotten lost in the Rockies, Sierras, Siskiyous, or Cascades. Cell triangulation craps out pretty quick there: you're going to have to find your location the old-fashioned way.

I picked multiple, mostly because it never hurts to have The Department of Redundancy Department working for you when it comes to directions. However, I think the smartest combo is Other. Other being a laptop with all the maps on there, a phone, and then a few select maps. Also, Thomas Guides do kick ass too; they're portable and thorough enough (for me, at least).

I like gps, and phone. Most of my trips data would be available but there are plenty of time when that is no possible. Never had a GPS failure when I can visually see the sky.

I have taken a couple of long trips in the S -
2010 - 2600 mile round trip for HC2 - I used my Nuvi and the group also had google directions
2011 - 3488 miles - cross country relo trip - We used a Nuvi, paper maps, AAA Triptik.

I don't use phone for directions since it sometimes requires cell signal and on these 2 trips there were areas where that would not exist.

I also run a Passport 9500.
