Long Trip - Suggestions?
I have done a search and can't find much info on this.
I am leaving in a few days to drive 2000 miles round trip (Edmonton AB to Redmond WA) Does anyone have any suggestions for "stuff" to take along as in 'just in case' kit? (already have oil / basic tools / cleaning stuff)
Please post any helpful insights you have / have had.

How about towlettes for cleaning up coke drips and greasy fingerprints (in case you do a McDonald's drive-thru). Extra sunblock is a must.
Car cover, for protection while parked at hotel, etc.
Cheap foam ear plugs (my ears get tired after a couple of hundred miles at high speed with the top down)

I just came back from a trip to Toronto Canada. Bring some water..driving in the sun all day will make you thirsty. Be prepare to clean you car after the drive...alot of bugs. Recommended driving time...during the daytime...try not to drive at night...you might run into deer or whatnot. Believe it or not...while driving back from Toronto...a deer run across the highway during daylight. Luckly...I saw it and slow down from 3 digits...to avoid hitting a deer.
p.s. Good Luck on you road trip...a camcorder on the road trip would be nice.

also...driving at night time in this time of the year...it not a good idea...It gets very very foggy after midnight in some areas. Try to avoid drive at night time after midnight. Are you driving by yourself...make sure you fill up you gas tank once you see a decent gas station.
p.s. don't run out of gas...you tank will hold appr..13.2(US gallons not sure what the conversion is.) But I have driven it with no bar left and filled it up with 11 gallons...so there was abut 2 gallons left.

Just came back from Vancouver Island. Took all the stuff you took but in hindsite, I should have taken the Helm manual in case I needed to use some of those tools. Also I took a can of puncture seal, an air pump (plugs to accessory plug), lots of CD's (I have a 10 disc changer with an extra cartridge), cell phone, CB radio (just in case the cell phone doesn't work & I need to call a trucker). Have fun and honk when you go thru Calgary!
strongly suggest:
- sunblock,
- extra pair of sunglasses (in case yours blow off),
- extra baseball hat (see above),
- high quality musician's ear plugs (look for ones that reduce decibals without affecting sound profile - available at guitar shops).
