check techbargains.com they have good computer deals often.

My laptop pooped out today, so I'm thinking about getting a PowerBook pro.

depends on a lot more than those basic specs and what you plan to do with it.

What do you want to use it for?
What video card?
What speed of ram, harddrive, burner, etc?
How upgradable is it?

How much are you willing to pay to get exactly what you want? Or are you just wanting to get something at a bargain because it's bargain?

Then the one u listed is really good enough. In fact if you want a basic use, Pentium 4 is ENOUGH already. I don't know how basic you're doing but if you're just doing word processing for work, watch movies, etc. Pen 4 can handle very well already, no need to even get core 2 duo. No need for a good video card either. But $499 is a good price for core 2 duo...so cheap and with a 20' LCD monitor too. I believe it's due to a cheap video card and small hard drive. Again... 80GB is plenty for basic use....

thats a great system. since its 2gb pick XP.. dont get vista unless you expand the memory.

when you need more space simply buy an external usb harddrive for <100$.. storage is CHEAP
