Looking at getting my first road bike
so... to sum up
1. one must be a "racer" and ride a $18K bike to be able to give advice to others about bike and riding?
2. any racer that has past his prime, no matter how respected is relegated to "old school" and washed up?
3. post your fictional racing time on a car site to impress others? Yup I looked it up. unless your last name is Danielson, Hamilton, Overend, Gaimon, or Nicole, your training time isn't 59min.
4. Make up fictional errors for others so you can look good?
nice!!!

But, my penis is still way bigger than yours!

Seriously.. how did this get to that? I'm a noob asking what's good/what's not.
I got the bike s2020 told me not to. I love it. I don't think ANYWHERE did he give me bad information--except that I should start on a $500+ bike. That's the only bad info he gave (and is opinion non-the-less) because I can't AFFORD a $500 bike.
While I don't know s2020 personally, I know he lives around me, and I'm sure if I asked nicely, he'd give me the right info and maybe let me see what "real" bikes are like
But I do trust his opinion more than a s2k-montreal because you're just e-thugging it up at this point..
With that said, I'm glad we established who's bike collection is better

thanks Raj.
Esp, sorry about the $ comment. If you want me to show some good riding trails or techniques, shoot me a PM.
Montreal, rereading the thread a couple days later just showed me that you know less than you claim to know and that you are just a poser who probably can't even ride.
1. Cannondale with soft BB? Stiff enough for the top sprinter in the world in his prime yet you (who claim to be a climber) said it's not stiff enough for you??
2. Mike Cavendish. That sounds as wrong as Lebron Jones or Mickey Jordan. a cycling fan would never make that mistake.
3. your claimed Mt Wash time is that of a pro caliber racer yet you don't know jack about bike. All the pro level guys I've met are real cool and modest. Even slow guys like me who been riding for 20 years are pretty secure about themselves. We enjoy riding for riding and don't need to be better than anyone to feel good about riding. It's the beginner insecure posers who attack others to feel better about themselves. Sounds like I just figured out why you suddenly attacked me.

I'd def like to learn some stuff.. I'm sure my technique is as bad as a fat man's diet
sounds good. Start a thread in the BA forum. There are a few riders in the forum but they mostly do MTB. There are at least 1 who do road though. It'd be nice to get a ride going.
get helmets and gloves if nothing else.
Duboseg, sorry, my bikes are not for sale
. I'm sure you can afford a top level bike given that you roll in an IS-F.

So.. still need ~$100 in gear.

Hey Ninh, Do you know anything about Lactate and VO2? Hmmm. I recall that being part of medical school.
Montreal, why are you attacking him?

That comment ("Do not buy Cannondale because it is too stiff for a beginner") was the most stupid comment I have read in a very long time. That just shows how that old man is very ignorant, blowing smokes how of his ass and simply has limited knowledge on how an aluminum and carbon bikes are designed and built.
He can go post his comment on some bicycle forums and let see how the people will react. His collection of Hyundais bikes might impress the people here but seriously, do you think your Litespeed bikes will impress the people on a real cycling forum ???? Sorry but those flexy crap is for old school poseur and beginners. Titanium was hot a long time ago (Motorola...Eddy Merckx/Caloi aka Litespeed) when the TYPES of carbon fiber available and building process were limited.
For your information, Cannondale is a Canadian company that not only builts aluminum and carbon fiber bikes for pro but also comfortable ones for beginners.
