It's not stupid at all. It's not a treadmill that drives itself. YOU drive the treadmill, meaning, you are running with resistance, something a treadmill alone can't duplicate.

The machine is not what you think it is.

Think of it as a car...the treadmill belt drives the wheels, but YOU are the engine that spins the belt.
