No! the quality is shit. Wait a few years until you can get a decent sized TFT.

I don't know what you're talking about but our Panasonic TH-42PWD6UY is great for under 3k.

I don't think you can get any good plazma for under $5K. I don't think there are any for less than that with true 1080 hi-def, just that interlaced hi-def.

There aren't any plasmas period that fully resolve 1080i. However, for under $5k, the panasonic mentioned above is about the best deal. check out www.plasmaextreme.us for fantastic prices and ask your questions over at http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdispla...p?s=&forumid=40

There is hardly a difference between EDTV and true HDTV (1080) on anything under 50" from a distance. Unless you want to spend twice the money..

I have the Panasonic TH50PX20UP; outside of your price range but in essence just a larger version of the panny you mention earlier. I would advise looking at the unit before you purchase it.

I find the cooling fan noise to be a bit annoying and while the picture is indeed sharp (fully HDTV compliant) it can't hold a candle to my CRT HDTV Sony 34XBR2.

Of cuz a smaller screen would look better than a bigger screen running at the same resolutions. If you can get HDTV res on a tiny handheld, it would probably look better than a photo.
