Default luck comes at a cost..

hey guys/gals

just felt the need to write out some thoughts. feel free to flame/laugh/cry/comment/ignore.

im starting to believe that there is a big ass pool of luck somewhere that we all take and give to. when we experience "bad luck" we add a little bit of luck to the pool. when we experience "good" luck, we take a little bit. but i think that in the end, we all have to break even whether we like it or not.

in regards to that.. last night was hell, but i walked away somehow without a scratch. the S did a complete flip. airbag deployed, and the stiffness of the windshield brace saved my life. i narrowly avoided rolling over a boulder which was aligned right between the roll hoops and the windshield frame.

i'm thankful to be alive, and lucky that i can type this. hope you all are having a good holiday season.

r.

wow...I'm glad to hear you're okay.

Just be sure to make plenty of deposits back into the karma bank so you're ready for the next withdrawl.

thanks for the kind thoughts guys. im nervously awaiting the call from insurance on the status of the S. im not too sure what I want to do. part of me is saying that the S saved my life, and that I should recognize the level of safety there, while the other part of me doesn't trust my driving ability w/o traction control now.

all i can truly and clearly recall is the "oh shit" feeling when i saw the RPMs climb freely as I let the clutch out in 2nd. the rest was sort of a quick series of events that just made me almost shit my pants.

I would probly stay with the S but if you are going to be nervouse about driving it, then what is the point right?? You will figure it out, good luck with the insurance!

First of all, really glad to hear that you're ok. Cars are replaceable. Life and health certainly are not.

So what did happen? I understand that you don't remember much, but how did the car flip? Any information would be good. We could all learn from your experience...as I hope some learned from mine...

I completely understand the desire for a "safer" handling car, something less likely to bite you if you're not completely on the ball. Especially in less than ideal circumstances. You also might want to consider a high performance driving course. Electronic aids are great, and can ceratainly help, but nothing replaces driver skill. This is personally what I want to do.

Either way, good luck in the future.
