Os x is cool...The windows and apple menu and everything is totally different. I am a mac fanatic and have been my whole life (im only 19...but) probly cuz my dad is too. I bough a new ibook and it came with both os x and os 9.1. I tried to use os x for a while but could not get used to it. I prefer os 9.x over X just cuz I am so used to it. Probly the only thing I found to be useful was the doc. I dont know...you really have to play with it and see if you bond . Hope this helps!!

OSX is awesome. Just what we Mac users have been waiting for all this time: lots of power and reliability but with all the userfriendlyness of the Mac. Yes, it's different to previous OS's but nothing really changed much in terms of UI between OS7 and OS9 that we got complacent.

OSX still has some catching up to do on some of the things we liked about OS9 but they can usually be provided by third parties and are usually free. I have an OS9 style application menu top right courtesy of X-Assist.

Most apps are now OSX native. I do all my web production in GoLive, PhotoShop and BBEdit. When I have to do Tango work I can still open the old OS9 Editor and it opens in the Classic environment and works well.

And if an app does crash it never takes down the system. Much more stable that OS9.

My suggestion if you've got a recent Mac is to start in OSX and see how often you have to restart in OS9. It'll happen less and less over time. When I get the new OSX compliant Tango Editor I doubt I'll even start Classic anymore.

I love it and have been running it on my powerbook for a while, the only complaint is mine eats memory for some reason. I have 1024 meg in my titanium and when running 9.1 in the backround and explorer up front I get a few weird little lock outs. But deffinitly better then anything from the past. All I need now is to find a copy of photoshop and it will be perfect.

What!!!! I have 384Mb on an iBook and don't have any problems running 8 or 9 apps (PS, IE. Entourage, Word, Excel, etc) simultaneously.

A still don't understand why it happens. I took it back to have them to a leak down lest on the machine and it comes back decent.

Alot of the software I have is custom written and very unsual and normally runs on a stand alone machine so I have a lot of associations that like to mess with the system.

Still digging into the whole unix backbone of the system, but right now I am tring to find a way to warjack with the internal card. Can't find much documentation on it but I will get it figured out.

I have heard that the software doesn't allow some downloaded videos to be played. Does this happen often?
