Default Mad Cow Diseas found in US

In case some of you hadn't heard here's the story from CNN

Anyone else scared? The thing that scares me is the severity of the disease and how difficult it is to find out if you've contracted it.....I hope they get everything sorted out quickly, but until then, I'm not eating beef......

With 3/4 of USA's beef going to other countries, & it is now on the ban list, beef prices are going to plummet. What's scary is that it can take up to 6 years to detect it.

I wouldn't worry about it. The number of people in the UK to contract CJD is *very* small (607 in the 13 years to 2002).

Enjoy your steaks

That sh#t is scarry. My brother told me about the protien, a rouge prion , that is madcow. It can't be broken down, or destroyed by anything. Chemicals, heat, radiation, nothing. It can survive a nuclear explosion. Neurosurgeons have to throw away surgical instruments because madcow can not be sterilized. Optometrist have to use the blow air method to check internal eye pressures because the eyes are vonurable to mad cow. They are also creating disposable surgical tools. This is scary stuff if you ask me. One of the scariest is the symptoms of madcow can take 40 years to take effect in a human. I usually don't get too nervous about news hype, but this might change with mutated prions.
