Default making a comprehensive insurance claim

was looking at getting my front bumper repainted due to paint chips and the body shop told me id be better off making an insurance claim saying i got sand blast damage (i live in the desert) this way i could get a new windshield and get the hood and fenders redone too. i have a low deductible so a whole new front end paint job would be nice for cheap but is there anything negative i need to look at by doing this????????

the comprehensive portion of your insurance may go up.

Not the whole thing, just the comprehensive portion (which is not all that big really).

You're right. Filling an insurance claim stating exactly what happened is certainly fraud--it's the truth-telling part that is clearly illegal here.

Your Comp. portion will increase. If you file based on the storm, I don't forsee any other difficulties. I'd ask what the rate increase would be, and judge how long that increase will exist v. the cost of the repair.
