Default Masked Boobies...

Any birdwatchers in Southern California out there? There are a huge number of these birds, the Masked Boobie, near Catalina island right now...lots of photographers are flocking (pun intended) to take some pretty nice shot of the birds.

Pretty cool looking and from what I hear, a pretty rare occurence...anybody see the report on Fox News?

Those birds are something else! I floated a white balloon off the back of the boat and they thought it was another bird and attacked it.. They didn't pop it but should have. It was one of those heavy duty industrial balloons and when we retrieved it, we could put a finger in the balloon about an inch where they stretched it with their beaks.

We have a lot of fun making puns about these birds when we do our launch missions to the Equator. We see a lot of Brown-Footed boobies trailing our ships looking for handouts. You can imagine the puns....

Personally I prefer the blue-footed variety.

I've looked a couple of times, just to make sure it didn't change track
