IMAX, the giant screen format in various cities around
the world, has confirmed they have agreed to release "Apollo 13" and
other library titles -- as well as selected new pictures -- using a new
process that converts images from conventional 35mm to the huge screen
format. The process sharpens and brightens images dramatically so that
pictures such as "Gladiator" and "The Matrix" can soon be offered on
IMAX screens.

 

Yeah, they've been doing that for a while. I saw Crouching TIger, Hidden Dragon on IMAX. It was HUGE-- my eyes got tired from panning up and down and left and right to read the subtitles.

 

It would be extremely cool. The process however does not bring it up to the quality you get with a *true* IMAX film.
