Interesting car. 250HP @ 9000RPM and all from what I believe is a 600cc motor.

It's something like 650cc per rotor and there are 2 in the RX8, so it's about 1.3L, but the important thing is that it has a power stroke on every revolution, unlike 4-stroke piston engines that fire only every second rev of the crank. It should therefore be compared with a 2.6L 4-stroke, which still makes the S2000 look pretty good.

From what I remember, this is not a wankel rotary, it is a different type, correct? Anyone know of reliability issues, or how much you can get out of them before they blow up? Just curious.

I don't particularily care for the RX8's styling, but it should be a pretty sweet ride - the RX7 definately was.

Am I the only one that thinks that the "zoom zoom" thing is lame? Sounds like what a 4 year old would say while playing with their hot wheels.

He's referring to the start button.

Regarding Zoom Zoom: I agree, I think it is terrible marketing. Mazda does not have a 'real' sports car, the miata is close but it is not a 'zoom zoom' car. And the rest of their lineup is hardly sporty.

Regarding the 'other' rotary: whatever RENESIS means, I thought it was a variation on the wankel rotary design. From the picture though, it is pretty obvious that it IS a wankel. My mistake.
