Default Microsoft Sucks

Anyone wondering why you couldn't access S2ki last night and early this morning? Thank your friends at Microsoft for putting out another piece of crap software with security vulnerabilities. It took down large chunks of the net last night. S2ki doesn't run MS s/w thank god but unfortunately other people using the same ISP do and it overwhelmed the ISP's bandwidth. Here's a story:

http://dailynews.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story...internet_attack

So the next time you hear a techie say Microsoft is bad now you know why.

I can't get onto S2Ki somtimes and it sucks. I wouldn't put all the blame on M$. Blame it on the hackers out there and the virus writers who want to f$#@ up our comps. Bastards.

On another note, does anyone have a phone# to reach those greedy bastards at MSN. I bought a laptop for my gf last Xmas at BestBuy and they gave me free MSN dialup for 6 months without telling me. I hate these tactics. So I need to cancel it.

Heh. Blame it on the admins that leave their database servers exposed to the Internet, and who haven't installed a patch released back in July of last year!

Yeah, Microsoft wrote the virus and unleashed it on the internet last night. It's all their fault.

I didn't read the article on the other site, but my feeling is that if M$ is going to put out a OS, then it should be stable enough to prevent hacks. Considering XP has been out for a while now and people are still able to break into it, doesn't show much confidence in it. Oh well I guess I'll just stick with my Mac and OSX.

There is no OS that can't be cracked/hacked. There is no program that can't be cracked/hacked. The only way to make a computer secure is to remove it from the internet, end of story.

Linux, Unix, and OS X (which is based on Unix) are marginally better than Windows. The difference being that the *nix folks tend to be a bit more responsive. Micro$oft's attempts at ease-of-use tend to backfire, too. Oh well. A good DDoS or virus attack is a good way to get sysadmins to get off their lazy butts and patch their servers.

Hmmm...According to this article

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&cid.../microsoft_worm

Microsoft's own servers weren't patched to avoid this type of attack. If Microsoft can't even keep it's own systems up to date how can they expect their customers to?

Hmmm... The statistics I've seen indicated that while Apache runs the majority of the sites out there, it's IIS that's running the majority of the web servers. So if you want to affect as many machines as possible, your best bet is still to go after Microsoft.
