i was stationed in kikruk when i seen my First Sergeant killed he was a close friend like we all were, but i'll never live that down, we promised we'd get together when we got back stateside i was on the m2 when we got hit, i got hit in the shoulder, i fell back in pulled my rifle but i couldn't shoot, then i fell out our apc trying to get out, i seen it and felt blow
there's four guys left from my patrol that didn't get killed or transferred to another unit
i found a song that not only hits home but knocks me back on my ass, because it hits so close

Ive been in your shoes man. I was in Iraq for OIF3, Ive been blown up myself (Thank god Im still all here) and lost a few of my boys. Best thing you can do is to talk to someone about it. What branch of Mil are you? Army has the Military Family Life Counsoler, and their job is to sit with you and talk to you about how you feel and help you out. Theres also the Family Life Chaplain you can talk to. Its tough when your going through stuff like that, but its best to talk about it. There are still songs that I cant listen to without thinking about the homeboys Ive lost over there.

OIF III, too.
There's no harm in talking to someone.
If you're still serving, go through your food chain (or the chaplain) and have them give you a hook up. If you're not still on Uncle Sam's payroll, call your local VA office.
Don't stew on this kind of stuff...just isn't worth it.

i do talk about it but with a therapist, i don't trust the military doctors, they botched my ankle to the point i have no visible bone on the inner side of my left leg
wow this song is awesome! my older brother went to iraq for 15 months and thank god he came back safely. he still gets nervous to talk about what hes seen and it makes me sad when he gets sad. he lost his best friend who signed up at the same time with him. i like this song and ill show it to him.
im joining the national guard tmw and i know i prob wont go to iraq. but id go in heartbeat if they told me they needed me.

Six of us were fraternity brothers, same major, living together in the same apartment building, graduated together. We enlisted in the Air Force together, graduated from flight school together, and all flew the F4C Phantom. Within a year three of them were shot down and killed in North Vietnam.
My dad's partner in the LAPD was a general in the Air Force Reserve and a B52 pilot. I flew to Udorn Air Base in Thailand with him on a B52. I flew back with him on another B52, with a refueling stop at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska. We landed at March AFB, California. Two of us who were deadheading got off the B52, the plane took off again, and crashed and burned in Sunnymede, two miles to the east. The concussion lifted us off our feet.
