In times past (and still today in many places) the traditional family structure was for the the grandparents to raise the kids because they're too old to do much else, while the parents go out and work, earn money, grow food, etc. I'm no historian, but my understanding is that, for the most part, parents raising their own children is a rather new/unusual setup.
Traditionally it was that families stayed together and the mother raised the children while the father went out and made a living.
Now the family portion came in that extended families lived in a 'family house' so that in the case I present, the burden of housing payments did not fall on the father but rather was already taken care of. In exchange the father would take care of his parents and his family and possibly his younger siblings. If he was the eldest child he would inherit his parent's money.
Those 2 things are what have changed.

She also said she wasn't on welfare but is receiving almost $500 a month for food stamps. She doesn't think that's welfare, just a program that helps people in her situation.
She's crazy.

I for one support her. I mean she knows what she is doing, and at the same time she is supporting her herd without any outside support.
I believe this is good since she is going to buy a corn farm soon and she will need the help.
We should make a holiday after her for bringing back the old days where family stick together through thick and thin.
