Nowadays, $50 is a little too low. I'd say $75 is the least; however, $125 is fine for 2 persons. Since it's a co-worker, you really don't want that person to think of you as a cheap-ass in his head every time he sees you.

Seems reasonable, IMO.
They way I consider it is to think of a normal American style wedding - where the groom and bride have a gift registry for a blender, tableware, pillow cases and the like - and think about how much you'd be comfortable spending on the gift(s). Then translate that into a round number for cash, and you're good to go.

like others have said cover your plate $$$ so $75-150 a person.
if ur really really stressing call the resturant and ask what their typicall prices per plate are.
factor in the closeness as well of friendship.

i'm viet and this is what i gave:
i gave my cousin $150.
$100 (fiance + myself) to my friend's lill sister.
a voucher for 2 to an alaska boat cruise to my oldest sister.
i plan to give $200, maybe more, to my best friend ( i'm the best man) when he gets married.

we had quite a few very well off people give us a gift well under 100 for a couple. We also has quite a few family members give us nothing.....****ed up!!

I am trying to understand this. Do you guys not register for the wedding? I am trying to understand why would your guests have to pay for YOUR wedding?
