Thierry Henry is planning to demolish his $9.5M London mansion in order to build... a slightly different mansion. A significant difference will be a 40-foot fish tank ($400K)
Seriously, athletes these days are making out-of-this-world monies, it's ridiculous. Demolishing a $10M mansion...

In addition, a $400K fish tank that will require A LOT of professional maintenance. Whenever a fish dies, a diver would have to dive down to take it out before it rots. Plus, that fish tank costs more than many houses.

Going out on a limb here, but my thought is, if you can afford to bulldoze $9.5 million then you're probably not concerned with maintenance costs.

Soccer/football player (depending on who you ask ).

I do wonder, when they give the $10m price of the mansion he's demolishing, is that for the building only? Or was that the cost of the mansion he purchased plus the land it was on? I remember a story about Tiger Woods' ex tearing down a $12 mil mansion or something, but I believe that price included the cost of the land, which obviously is not lost in the process.

I obviously was not speaking about his affordability of the fish tank, but about how ridiculous it is to ordinary people.
