Default Mother kills her 5 children

I was just catching up on my news this morning on MSN news....

Did you guys hear about the mother in Texas killing her 5 children in the bathtub? She killed all of them by drowning.

Scary world.

1. it's very sad when people are that sick.
2. see, it doesn't take a gun to be a multiple murderer.

yup, its been all over the news down here. they reside in Houston.

they were discussing how the mother had to chase down the 7 year old after he clued into what was going on, and then drowned the infant in the tub. its devistating beyond anything I can imagine. and the spouse, he's supportive of her in saying that he loves her and he knows that she wasn't herself at the time.

nice eh? but still... *shaking head*

I think they will ask for the death penalty. The defense of course will plead insanity.

Not trying to start a flame war here but does anyone not think she should be put to death by lethal injection? All I can say, is that her husband must be in shock and that is the only reason she is still breathing. If that happened in my house, I don't know what would have happened.

To say that her husband was in shock is to put it mildly. It's hard for any of us to say what it would have been like if it had occurred in our households(heaven forbid).

Lethal injection gives the same end result in the end. However, my gut instinct tells me that she will not get the death penalty. I'm fine as long as she is never set free.....ever.

Something that no one has mentioned here is that she is suffering from severe postpartum depression. While I know that guys don't understand this, the hormonal changes that occur in a woman's body during pregnancy and then after birth are unfathomable. If you guys think PMS is bad, think 100x worse in some women!

For those who think this is horse dung, she has been diagnosed with this before after the births of her other children and was on a suicide watch after the birth of her 4th child. Normally, I would have more doubt than anyone else about motive, but it's clear to me that this is a serious problem with her. Anyone who has ever suffered from severe depression knows that the intense sadness and despair can totally alter your thinking.

I am by no means justifying what she did; I merely think that this is incredibly sad and I hope that this brings about more research and a solution to postpartum depression.

Save the death penalty for those who are without any hope of rehabilitation!

Absolutely against any suggestion of a death sentence (as per usual).

The woman is mentally ill and I don't think there is any doubt on this. Why the hell else would a mother do something like that?

thankfully we do not live in an country where laws are determined by "eye-for-an-eye" policies.

and I agree, save the lethal injection for someone who is unable to be rehabilitated.
