Default Moving stuff into storage

Okay.. I'm about to move a couple of stuff into storage and leave it there for about 4-6 months from May - October. The items that I'm worried about is my electronics such as my 52" LCD tv, game system, my car etc... The question I want to ask is it necessary to get climate control for my storage?

I probably would. I know when I used a storage place a few years ago it wasn't that much more to get climate controlled.

Absolutely. If it's unavailable, then get huge buckets of moisture absorbing materials and wrap all the electronics in sealed plastic. Moisture will kill your gear pretty quickly.

Make sure your homeowners/renters insurance covers items in off-site storage. No need to get a surprise if something were to happen at the facility.

as mentioned before its really humid, climate control is the way to go for electronics, and also furniture.
A lot of other boxed items should be fine without climate control!

Excerpt:"High or low temperatures, along with high humidity, are the leading causes of damage to goods in storage. Scorching summers, bitter winters, or environments that have extreme fluctuations in temperature and high humidity throughout the year can leave their mark on even the hardiest items. Choosing climate controlled storage may prevent costly damages, such as warping, as a result of extreme temperatures and humidity. If a room is poorly ventilated, the hot or cold temperatures may easily cause damages to important and valued materials. Climate controlled areas should also be static-free, which also provides your stored items with added security and protection from the possibility of dust damage."

If you can afford it go climate control. One benefit is the obvious climate, but most don't realize how much better the space is. The owners have an incentive to keep the spaces air tight (rat free) and clean.

yes! i stored my stuff when i was moving for about 2 months and my stuff was all moldy and wet from the humidity, especially now in the summer. and bugs everywhere! it was not fun. climate control will at least help with that.

When my brother was deployed, and I was kind enough to "store" his 45" LCD TV and new leather couches while he was gone. I kept them in my living room to make sure nothing happened to them.

The rest of his stuff was in an uncontrolled uhaul storage unit that was essentially inside of a huge garage. We never had any issues, but we live in Utah, so we don't really have humidity or much else to worry about.
