Damn Charlie, no wonder he broke a nail! Talk about talons of death! Cut those things man! His nails are way too long. I KNOW what a HUGE bizatch it is to cut toenails on a small dog with black nails. I have 2 MinPins that desperately hate it. I use a Dremel tool with the sandpaper attachment so I don't accidently hit a quick and I can be more inaccurate as they thrash around.

The vet won't do it? WTF? Use a dremel tool and grind them down until you just barely touch the quick.(You see a tiny drop of blood) The quick will draw back a little bit each time you cut his nails. Just do it every few days until you get them back to regulation length. Probably take a few weeks of doing it every 3 or 4 days.

My dogs hate it so much I usually put them in the WWF death grip while the wife works the Dremel tool on them. It is safer than a clipper because they thrash around so much that the clipper sometimes takes off WAY too much and you get a serious bleeder.

Best of Luck and get well Mr. Pockets
