For most English speakers the 'o' in "Todd" does not sound anything like the 'a' in "retarded".

I think I saw this in a movie a long time ago, maybe the first Porky's. One of the guy's calls a type drive-in restaurant. A roller-skating waitress picks up the phone and he asks her to see if Mike Hunt is there. She's gets on the loudspeaker yelling \"Has Anybody seen Mike Hunt?\". Classic!
