Hmm... how else would it be pronounced (in english) that wouldn't make sense?

 

For most English speakers the 'o' in "Todd" does not sound anything like the 'a' in "retarded".

 

How about...

I didn't get it for a while and then worked out what it was supposed to sound like .....

I think I saw this in a movie a long time ago, maybe the first Porky's. One of the guy's calls a type drive-in restaurant. A roller-skating waitress picks up the phone and he asks her to see if Mike Hunt is there. She's gets on the loudspeaker yelling \"Has Anybody seen Mike Hunt?\". Classic!
