My car got broken into today
Well, some dumb f&*k kid(s) broke into my CRX and stole a POS radio I had installed some years back. They didn't take the wheels ($800 a set), the Ti shift knob ($120), or the CD collection case (hundreds of dollars). My only gripe is that now I have to pay and get my window replaced, and another POS radio, and maybe an alarm which I didn't bother to put because the car's not even worth one pay check...
Anyway, just angry and venting.
Sorry to hear that. I only have a two car garage so we leave a really old 1982 Volvo DL outside. Someone already broke in (when parked in the University area, not the current area) and stole the radio that didn't work anyways. Serves them right, but replacing the window was kind of a pain. Luckily a junkyard had one since we are on the verge of giving away the car we didn't care about quality glass.
get a locking car cover. that, coupled with my car alarm, seems to make my S that much less inticing to the scum who have to break into cars. the car cover helps disguise the shape of the S too. I had recently parked in a not-so-savory part of SF and had to leave my S for several hours-- when I came back and turned off the alarm, it indicated that it hadn't been triggered once (and it's a sensitive alarm).
a thick semi-weatherproof locking car cover + an alarm = more peace of mind for me.
$.02
EDIT: noticed you were talking about your CRX, so an alarm probably isn't worth it, but the car cover might be. my beater car is also a CRX, '89 model with almost 200K on the odometer. great little cars they are.
