Default My Computer Crashed! Help Me!

The OS is Windows 2000

I downloaded a game demo from fileplanet, MOH: Allied Assault Breakthrough.

As I was trying to connect to a game, it was about 80% done loading the map then my pc suddenly crashed and tried to reboot, but it came to the menu for "checking for conistency"

but it took about 1 hr for that and my pc just froze at that moment

then i pressed the reset button like 8 times and i skipped the check for consistency and Windows was trying to start but it took like 30 min for the start menu toolbar to appear

i was able to go into "My Computer" but I could not go into any of the folders and there was a message that appeared saying "files are unaccessible"

when i turn the computer on, at the menu before conistency check, it says "program files is totally unreadable"

but in My Computer, it still had the same amount of space used with files and free space amount so I think I still have my files in the pc

is there a way to get access to my files again and have the pc work properly again? (maybe a cd or something?)

right now, i am using a different computer

try booting from the Windows CD and reinstalling the OS. it shouldn't overwrite your old files, just the old OS.

If that fails, try giving it a hug.

yeah, try not to do anything too playful with your cousins in the mean time, especially the one you hug the most.

I guess it's safe to say that the program you downloaded "lied on top of" your OS "with little refusal" from it.

Dont know if you've got this fixed yet, if not, shut the computer down. During the reboot press the F8 key. Choose the option for" last known good configuration" When the system comes up remove the program using the "add / remove programs" in "My Computer"
