Default My Credit Card Number was Stolen

Uuuuggggghhhh!!!!! I just happened to look online at my account balance today and there were 3 really odd charges to some place called "IFriends". I called the company and it turns out someone has stolen my credit card number. Apparently, they do some sort of online video chat service, usually adult oriented. This guy charged less than $200.

I do a bit of e-commerce each month (not to adult sites) so I guess it was just a matter of time, but it still pisses me off. The aco**** has been cancelled and IFriends seems to be helping me track down the perpatrator. They gave me the IP address he signed on with, and told me that there were several other accounts coming from the same IP address that they were having trouble with. The guy at the company said he would look through the chat logs (yes, they keep them - HAHAHAHAHAHA) and let me know if he found anything of interest.

I've contacted the ISP of the IP address holder but have not heard back yet. I think if I can find out who it is, I'd like to file a report woth the police where the guy lives. Anyone think this is a bad idea (maybe he might get pissed and do some form of retribution)?

My credit card company also told me that there was a pending charge for $600+ but it has not posted to my account yet. This guy even set up an account at yahoo using my last name. A$$HOLE.

I know it's really popular to blame stolen credit card #s on e-commerce sites, but in reality the odds are much greater that a waiter, gas station attendant, or random dirtbag on a dumpster-diving mission will get your number. Think about how many people see your credit card _every day_ ... Makes me wish for a Securid style random CC# on my platinum card!

The Internet is about the only place I use this CC. I've used it locally occasionally, but his IP address is in California, I live in Virginia. I doubt any dumpster diving was done.

It was to an import/ export business in Glendale, CA. This business sells mobile phones and such. I tried to call it, but no answer.

It's cancelled and I don't think I'm on the hook for anything. It still makes me angry that some low-life has all my info. And it's a big distraction right now.
